Barbara Yager stood up a Youth Ministry in the parish in late 2015. It began with several Confirmation students wanting to do more. Well, they’ve accomplished quite a bit in just a few short months!
They began by holding a very successful Thanksgiving Food Drive in which several bins of food were donated to the county emergency food banks. They then turned their attention to a different need – the cold – and began collecting winter clothing for the homeless of West County. Five large hotel bins of clothing were collected and turned over to the Survival Center in Turners Falls. This clothing was made accessible to the needy for free.
The Fish & Loaves Food Pantry has been created for the needy in the parish. The pantry, located in the parish hall, is fully stocked and open on Sunday’s and during the work week.
In November 2016, they achieved their lofty goal of raising the sum of $5,024.15 to purchase a Gift Ark through Heifer International – a fantastic achievement! They were presented with the Ark Certificate from Heifer on December 4, 2016.
Please keep them in your prayers as they look to the future with new goals!
