Fr. Paul Graduates & Gets New 2-YR Lease On Life

Well, it has finally happened. This school year and my work for the GPD in Vocal Performance is (almost) over. Graduation was last Saturday, a beautiful day! As I believe I told you last fall, I was invited to do another diploma in the opera Department. At the beginning of April I finally grew a pair and wrote to the bishop, who presented the idea to the Clergy Commission (our version of the Personnel Board) and was approved!! So I am here for two more years!! I still cannot believe it. This letter came, for all practical purposes, on the heels of getting rave reviews on the “jury to perform,” essentially a little private recital for the vocal performance teachers to make sure that I can actually do it! SO all is going quite well, thank you! I am excited, scared out of my wits, and can’t wait until I actually have my first real recital, from memory, of all kinds of stuff from Mozart (late 18th century) to a piece composed for me by a classmate. Yup, I cover about 350 years of music. Is that cool or what!

Now I know that you cannot make it, since it is in the middle of the workday, but if you are near a computer, “dial in” to longy.edu/livestream at 2 p.m., and you will see and hear my recital. I have hopes of getting together with my pianist and recording it, as well as a few other things I have in my repertoire. Now if you will excuse me for a few sentences, I want to send this last paragraph in French to my friends in Canada.

So, I will be trying to send out a little more info in the coming days or weeks about the whole wrap up of this particular phase of my education, and what lies in store for the next part.

Paul, now a very highly educated “poor and humble parish priest” who lends his meager talents for the edification of God’s holy people.

Hi Jim, thanks for passing this on, it was good to see he’s being successful.

Also, I called Nicki to talk VBS and we wondered if we could do it on July 15, 16, and 17 (Tues.-Thurs) from 9:00 -12:00. Does that interfere with anything? Vicky
